In short

We use your information for one purpose: helping you get vehicle financing.
Your application goes to a licensed BC motor dealer, and to no one else except the services that run our website.
Applying never affects your credit. A credit check only happens after you give the dealer separate permission.
You can ask to see, correct or delete your information at any time.

Who we are

First Lane Finance is operated by Purewal Enterprises Inc. and is based in Metro Vancouver, British Columbia. We help people apply for vehicle financing and connect them with licensed BC motor dealers. We are not a lender and we do not sell vehicles. We follow British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).

What we collect

Your contact details: name, mobile phone number, email address and postal code.
Your application answers: the vehicle you want, your monthly budget and down payment, how you describe your credit, your status in Canada, your employment (including employer, job title and time at your job), your income range, types of additional income, whether you have a trade-in, and your preferred language.
The vehicle you were viewing, if you applied from a dealer's vehicle page.
Your consent: the exact wording you agreed to, the language it was shown in, and the date and time.
Technical details: the page you applied from, the website or ad that brought you to us, your IP address and your browser type.

We do not ask for your Social Insurance Number, banking details or date of birth in the application.

How we use it

To pass your application to a licensed BC motor dealer, who contacts you about your options and arranges financing through their lending partners.
To check that your phone number and email address look real, so your application isn't lost to a typo.
To prevent fraud and spam applications.
To understand which of our ads and pages are working, using the page and ad details listed above.

We don't use your information for anything unrelated to your financing application.

Who receives your information

A licensed BC motor dealer. If you applied on a dealer's own website, your application goes to that dealer. If you applied on firstlanefinance.ca, we send it to the licensed BC dealer best suited to your credit situation. If that dealer can't help you, we may refer your application to another licensed BC dealer who can.
Lenders, only with your permission. The dealer shares your information with a lender, and a lender checks your credit, only after you give the dealer separate permission.
Service providers that run our website. Our website host and our email service process information on our behalf, under contract, and may not use it for anything else.

No one else receives your information. We don't share it for marketing, and we don't let anyone use it for purposes unrelated to your application.

Where your information is stored

Our website host and email service may store and process information outside Canada, including in the United States. While it is there, it may be subject to the laws of that country.

How we protect it

Everything you send us is encrypted in transit (HTTPS).
Only the dealer handling your application, and First Lane Finance staff, can see it. Each dealer signs in with their own password and sees only their own applications.
Passwords are stored in a scrambled form that no one can read.

How long we keep it

We keep your application for 24 months after your last contact with us, then delete it, unless the law requires us to keep it longer. A dealer who received your application keeps their own records under their own privacy policy.

Cookies and your browser

We don't use advertising cookies. Your browser may remember your chosen language and which ad or website brought you to us, so your application is credited correctly. You can clear this in your browser settings at any time.

Your choices and rights

You can ask what information we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it.
You can withdraw your consent at any time. If you do, we stop contacting you and ask the dealer to do the same.

If you aren't satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia at oipc.bc.ca.

Age

Our service is for people aged 19 and older, the age of majority in British Columbia.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will post the new version on this page and update the date at the top.
